LIVE TO TELL - REMEMBER YOUR SPIRIT
The day someone asked me, 'How is your spirit' I didn't have an answer. My who? Oh. uh, good? My life began to change when I started to empower the better part of me, within me. That good twin on my shoulder, my built-in cheerleader, had been so silent for so long I didn't know who she was anymore. Low self esteem, heartbreak, disappointment, and the symptoms that come with living, were a pillow smothering her face.
Years of practice have given me the ability to make sure my good twin isn't being crushed by the sumo loudmouth that is the 'evil' twin. You know her voice, "you can't do that. why bother. no one is going to like this. i bet he's cheating. he can do better. think you're all that? what if people ____?"
Shut. Her. Up.
Remember, you're battling an evil sumo champion (a visual that works for me) and it's going to take real effort because the good twin needs your help! She's pushing, and panting, scratching and clawing, all for YOU! Give the girl a hand! Pick up whatever tools you need to make that better part of you stronger, stronger then a sumo wrestler. It might be connecting to religion or spiritual practice, art, yoga, spending time in nature, or giving to others, whatever it is for YOU, do what feels good. Do what feels right. Then keep doing it.
Please watch this straight through. This is a refreshing and beautiful skit, expressed through dance, about the intense pressures women face and how we hurt ourselves in response to them. Our dancer finds that better part of herself again. I hope you do too.
