GIRLS WHO GET IT- TAVI GEVINSON
While most teenagers seem to do everything in their power to overcome their awkward stage, Tavi Gevinson is making a career out of hers. As one of the fashion’s most inspirational contributors, Tavi has been a lover of the industry her entire life…all 13 years of it.
The voice behind Style Rookie, Tavi has been blogging her views on fashion since the age of 11 and quickly generated buzz amongst some of the industry’s heavy hitters. Known for having a unique personal style (she jokes that people can’t tell if she’s a little girl or a little old lady), this grey-haired teen already has a few major accomplishments under her belt.
Her blog, which features postings and analyses of emerging trends, as well as photographs of her own outfits, caught the attention of the New York Times, launching her audience to over 50,000 readers. And that was just the beginning.
Since then, Tavi has been a front-row guest to an infinite number of couture fashion shows, meeting the likes of Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Anna Wintour, to name a few. Another career high came last year when Tavi was given the opportunity to step in for Fashion Television host and veteran, Jeanne Beker, at New York Fashion Week. There, she quickly demonstrated that you’re never too young to dive in and prove yourself.
For her individuality, for her industry savvy and for being on the frontline of fashion before the age of fourteen,
Tavi Gevinson is a Girl Who Gets It.
