GIRLS WHO GET IT- PRINCESS DIANA

Once upon a time "The People's Princess" lived as Diana Spencer.

A sweet and shy girl who, like all of us, had her own passions and personal struggles. Diana loved outdoor sports, nature, and the ballet. As beautiful as she was, her insecurities about her body ignited a lifelong battle with an eating disorder.

Still blossoming into her own, at 19 everything changed for Diana. Her boyfriend Charles was the heir to the throne of England. Being involved with him supposedly meant that press and brutal British paparazzi had access to her 24/7. A constant mob outside your door and 3 steps away at all time. Those same insecurities were now public knowledge. Nothing like being ripped apart by tabloids to help with your body issues.

Diana's wedding to Charles was epic -750 million viewers and 600,000 in the streets epic. This shy 20 year old would then go on to capture the hearts and attention of the world. My mother was a "Royal Watcher" and anything, I mean anything to do with Diana, she was all over it. We had the pleasure of meeting her in the 1983 during her tour of Canada. Mom has a framed picture of them shaking hands in her office.

“HIV does not make people dangerous to know.
You can shake their hands and give them hug heaven knows they need it"

Diana touched people. She was so different, so beautiful and still relatable to her public. Not one to simply sit around polishing the diamonds in her tiara, Diana compassionate nature drew attention to global issues knowing that the cameras would follow. Far from Buckingham Palace, Diana was remembered best for her genuine concern for the sick, weak and children affected by war. When people thought AIDS was contagious and a diagnosis was a death sentence, Diana was at their bedside holding their hand. She made you look at yourself and ask "What can I do?".

Diana reminded us that money isn't everything and being beautiful is something you do, not how you look. When she died - horribly and suddenly - the world wept. My mom was inconsolable. I'm tearing up just thinking about that day.

Compassionate, strong, soft, giving, femininne, style out of this world and incomprable grace and class, Diana Spencer could only be a Girl Who Gets It.
