PROS/CONS -WORKING WITH WOMEN

1:21 PM Posted by MS.NOVA

The work environment is indeed an interesting battlefield where men and women can be friend (or lover) or foe. For the most part, the women I have worked with/for have been wonderful colleagues and confidants, BUT there were those, ahem, others.

Please comment and share your experiences about
the Pro's and Cons of working with other women.

I'll go first

The pace of her high-heels against hardwood sent the office into a clamoring frenzy. Look busy people. Armed with a Grande Starbucks, under eye baggage and perfect hair, she marches to her desk. People feared her as much as they respected her and she earned both.

After 25 years in her position, she was known to be firm but fair. She read you like a hoe reads a trick, knowing your intentions from the jump. Leading by example, she worked hard, stayed late and gave quiet praise to a job well done while encouraging the younger women and pushing them to be better. If you got in her good graces, there was no need for Santa that year.

Miranda Priestly : The ultimate...

My previous female boss had a similar tough shell, lacked the experience and was a Grade A bitch; evil stepmother/head cheerleader/Shannon Doherty on-the-1st-day-of-her-period type bitch.

Dad owned the company so she’d saunter in twice a week and spend half the day flirting with the men and the other half humiliating the young female interns and newbie’s. Her tactics were a woman’s worst - straight out of high school; Constant eye rolls, yawning during presentations or snickering with her clique. I came early, stayed late, volunteered for extra work and when I needed a reference letter, she claimed to forget that I worked there! One thing I did learn from her, was to never treat those who worked under me as lesser human beings. Oh she was a muddascunt...

See the results of my PRO/CON poll I conducted via Twitter (@butilovememore)

PROS:

• Encouraging to see a woman at the top, good at what she does and supports others
• Expressing emotion is not seen as a weakness
• Nurturing aspect, the emotional understanding, relating
• Some amazing women gave me my start
• Collaborative environment versus competitive one.
• We are good "listeners"
• They will keep u on your toes.
• They might have a hot brother
• Organized and smell nice
• Always have tampons, gum and lotion

CONS:

• Just becuse we’re women, doesn’t mean we’re friends. If I don’t want to hang after work, I’m not a bitch.
• Can be opposed to applauding other women for success; tend to want to belittle or envy them. Makes for bad business!
• Use their sexuality to an advantage, power trips, make excuses
• I hate to say it but it always turns into a hen house...somebody gets mad at somebody and drama ensues
• They might fell the need to constantly tell u their love life problems
• Too many clingy & catty women. & those with crazy diva attitudes & egos.
• Overcompensation. Out to prove she’s a bulldozer. Power Trip.
• Cliques withholding information b/c of status. “Well we had to learn so…”
• Mistrustful of a person's motives
• After a while, everyone will start their cycle at the same time of the month!!
