GIRLS WHO GET IT- GOLDIE HAWN
in the Sixties's...
Known for her bubbly disposition and comedic roles, Goldie Hawn, a true Hollywood darling, is more than the “It” girl she personified in the ’60s. No stranger to success, Goldie has accomplished much in her lifetime. With actor, director, producer, singer and dancer on her resume, this golden girl can do – and has done – just about everything.
Before she hit the big screen, Goldie began her career twirling and tapping her way to the top. A dance teacher in her early days, Goldie appeared in several professional productions and used her talents to build her reputation in the entertainment industry. A natural performer, it wasn’t long before Goldie became a household name and had her talents recognized by her peers. Once 'discovered', the pressures of fame quickly consumed her causing Goldie to "lose my smile" and suffer a long depression. Her life looked to be thriving but inside she was in lost at the idea of celebrity. To reconnect to her true self, Goldie bravely saw a therapist for nine years (taboo at the time) to confront these issues head on and regain her light.
From go-go dancer in New York City in 1965 to Academy Award winner for her role in Cactus Flower in 1969, Goldie has a slew of accomplishments under her belt. As mother to actors Oliver and Kate Hudson, longtime partner to actor Kurt Russell, stepmother to Kurt’s son Boston and grandmother to Oliver and Kate’s children, Goldie maintains a grounded private life despite her very public family.
Using her fame to make a positive impact, Goldie founded The Hawn Foundation in 2005, an organization that equips children with the social and emotional skills they need to navigate the challenges they will likely have to face. Stemming from the Buddhist technique “Mindfulness”, Goldie is an advocate for wellbeing, emotional balance and resiliency.
