Blonde hair, big boobs and Baywatch. Those are the things you think of when you hear the name Pamela Anderson, right? Though that may be true, this Canadian sex symbol is more than just a pretty-faced pinup. In fact, Pam is one smart cookie. Taking her good looks and turning them into great opportunities, I’m convinced that Pamela knows something that many people don’t.
Discovered at a BC Lions game in Vancouver at age 21, this football fan caught the public’s interest and ran with it. Pamela spent her early years modeling, most of which was risqué, and used her success as a centrefold to propel herself into the acting world. Securing a minor part on the successful sitcom Home Improvement, followed by a starring role in the beach drama Baywatch, Pam was a rapidly-rising star who consistently played to her strengths to build her fan base and amplify her voice.
With an enormous following, Pam did one of the things I truly admire in celebrities. She found causes that were close to her heart and worked her bare butt off to fight for them. A vocal activist for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), as well as a Viva Glam spokesmodel for the MAC Aids Fund, it’s hard to ignore Pamela’s dedication to and sincerity towards making a difference.
Despite the skepticism of some, Pamela continues to strive and was honoured in 2006 for her work with a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. Now a dedicated mother of two boys, Pam is setting the example of how kindness and determination can yield impressive results.
For using her image as a “dumb blonde” to ultimately shatter the stereotype,
Pamela Anderson is a Girl Who Gets It.
